Coniston

| Is situated at the northern tip of Coniston Water and will take you about 15 minutes to drive from Ashlack. The village has lots of nice walks from Dow Crag and The Old Man of Coniston to a gentle stroll at Tarn Hows. A few other places to visit are the John Ruskin Museum, the Coppermines Valley and a trip on the Steam Yacht Gondola on Coniston Water. There are plenty of cafes and pubs in Coniston, we recommend the Black Bull. |

Hawkshead |

| Is about 40 minutes drive from Ashlack and is well worth it! The village boasts a 16th Century Church (The Church of St Michael), the Grammar School, which William Wordsworth attended and the Beatrix Potter Gallery. Hawkshead also has four pubs, a restaurant, numerous cafes and shops. |

Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere |

| Only 45 minutes away from Ashlack, there is hours of entertainment, on the lake, at Brockhole the National Park Visitors Centre, or just shopping. There are plenty of good eating-places, cafes, pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes. |

Broughton in Furness |

| A great charming old style village just 4 miles away with post office, green grocer, fantastic Butcher and several pubs. It has a weekly livestock Auction on Tuesdays. The Black Cock is very good for food. |

Ulverston |
|
| A thriving market town, with markets every Thursday and Saturday. You’ll find lots of green grocers, butchers, banks and a large supermarket. Pubs are plentiful in Ulverston and there are several nice restaurants too. It takes about 10 minutes to drive into Ulverston from Ashlack. |
